Operations performance of every subdivision is characterized by its overall efficiency. Efficiency particularly depends on the following: The efficiency of equipment, staff, main office for the region the subdivision is located in and top-manager qualification in the relevant skill. Low efficiency can be compensated by raising top-manager's qualification. Efficiency can't grow past 100%.
To make your subdivision work you must buy suitable equipment. If your subdivision has a high technology level, you'll need to buy equipment of higher quality. Equipment and animals are player producable products like everything else. You can produce them by yourself or buy them from other players.

Laboratories have one special feature — the required number of scientists depends on the quality of equipment, not on the technology level, as it is the case for production subdivisions. So it might not be reasonable to install equipment of higher quality equipment than necessary.
Over time equipment wears out, and eventually it must be repaired. In case your subdivisions' equipment has 15% wear level, it means that each machine has 15% wear, and even if you remove some worn machines, the total wear level (15%) will still be the same.
Equipment with a high level of wear, will lead to losses in productivity. High wear level can decrease efficiency of the entire subdivision. Industrial machines, mining equipment, power-saw bench, can last for 10 years. Tractors for 12 years. If your production load is 100% (fully loaded), the value of weekly machine wear will be about 0.19%.
If you don't need to use some equipment anymore, you can remove it and make some space for new equipment of better or lower quality as deemed necessary.
The number of employees, required for 100% production load depends on several factors: Subdivision size and sufficient quantity of equipment.
Manpower is not the same in all countries and regions, since education levels are different. Therefor, qualification level is not the same in all cities. On the other hand, staff qualification depends on the actual salary level: Higher salary, will allow you to hire better qualified employees in any city. An alternative to raising salary is employees training described below.
Average qualification level depends on education. Employees with qualification equal to the city average, can receive average salary (for the current type of subdivision).
Salary level depends on the type of subdivision:

Employee qualification influences the production efficiency and depends on the technology level of the subdivision — higher technology level, results in the need for better quality equipment and thus also better qualified employees. You can improve employee qualification by training them, which allows you to keep the average salary level.
Before opening any kind of enterprise in a certain city you must study the city population. For example, it is better to place high-tech subdivisions or an office in a city with highly educated population. However, it won't make sense to place a low-tech subdivision in a city with expensive and well educated population.
If you need to raise qualification level of your employees and don't want to raise their salary, you can «send» them for training. There is no need to stop production for the time of training therefor your subdivision will continue to operate while employees are in training.
You can start training from 1 to 4 weeks: Longer training will result in a higher qualification level. Cost of weekly training is average city salary x 10 (for subdivisions of the current kind). Qualification of employees increases every training week.
The alternative of training is salary raising. Usually this is less profitable than training since this method results in significant salary costs. The advantage on the other hand is an immediate increase in qualification level.
Qualification of Top-Manager
Any company can have an unlimited amount of subdivisions of different kind, size and specialization. However, each subdivision requires its own top-manger, who has skills in a particular field. The top-manager is actually the player of a company itself, i.e. - you. Every player is characterized by certain skills in different qualification areas.
The following qualification areas are available in-game:
- "Mining" — influences efficiency of mines;
- "Stock raising" — influences efficiency of animal farms;
- "Marketing (advertising)" — influences the efficiency of advertising campaign (for brand advertising and store advertising);
- "Science research" — influences the efficiency of laboratory and eventually speeds up the process of new technology research;
- "Production" — influences factory efficiency (and other industrial subdivisions);
- "Agriculture" — influences the efficiency of plantations and agricultural farms;
- "Commerce" — influences store efficiency;
- "Management" — influences office efficiency.
Qualification in general influences the efficiency of a player's subdivisions.
Players with high qualification can manage large and high-tech subdivisions. In case of an insufficient qualification level, efficiency of subdivisions will go down and expenses will go up. There are three ways to raise top-manager's qualification level:
- Qualification grows if your subdivision is working stable and profitable. You can check your qualification level and growth in «My office — Qualification». As soon as the green status line reaches the end of its field, your qualification level will increase by 1 point;
- You can buy game points and spend them on level raising: Choose any convenient payment method in «My office — Buy game points» to acquire the necessary game points;
- Awards and purchased office items can bring you a bonus in qualification level. You can check your bonuses in «My office - Qualification». Bonuses are displayed separately from the main qualification with «+» sign, for example «+4».
The price for one qualification point is not always the same for various qualification levels. Prices to raise a qualification level with game points are always calculated based on the base qualification, i.e. without taking bonuses into account. This means, that if your base level is 8, but you have a MBA-diploma (+2 bonus = 10 in total), you will be considered to have level 8 at the moment of payment (not level 10), and you will pay for the shift from level 8 to level 9 (not from 10 to 11). So, as a result you'll have level 9 + 2 bonus = level 11.

To find out the qualification requirement for the total amount of employees working at a certain subdivision type look at qulification requirements.
In Virtonomics all commercial and other subdivisions are controlled by an office. Each region where your company has a subdivision, must have a branch/regional office. Without a branch/regional office your subdivisions won't be able to operate.
Office efficiency depends on sufficient amount of employees and their qualification. In case your company has a lot of subdivisions, your office requires many employees to handle management and advertising. On the other hand, an office with many employees requires a top-manager with high qualification in management skill. You can improve your office efficiency by installing new computers.
Office size — maximal number of employees for the current size.
Rent expenses — weekly rent expenses. The value depends on office size and office location (city).
Number of controlled subdivisions — number of subdivisions in the current region.
Number of employees — current number of office employees.
Salary of one employee — weekly salary of one office employee. Average city salary for office employees is also specified (in brackets), it is equal to 150% of average city salary.
Salary expenses — weekly expenses on salary (for the current number of employees).
Qualification of employees — current level of office employees qualification.
Staff efficiency — the efficiency level at which your employees currently work.
The level of admistrative load — very low load usually indicates that your employees don't have enough work to do.
Number of computers — current number of office computers. High-tech equipment can improve staff efficiency of office employees. Optimal number of office computers is equal to the number of employees. In case the current number of computers is below the requirement, some of your employees won't have a chance to use a computer. If you have too many computers, some of them won't be used at all.
Advertised products — list of products advertised by the office. Advertising through your office increases the brand of your products.
Advertising efficiency — efficiency of last weeks advertising efforts. In case this value is below 100%, some part of your advertising budget was wasted.
Top manager efficiency — efficiency of advertising, depends on top-manager's «Marketing» qualification. Efficiency of employees depends on top-manager's «Management» qualification.
Efficiency — efficiency of office (for last week). If efficiency is below 100%, operation of your subdivisions in the current region will take negative effects on efficiency.

- Advertising efficiency — expected efficiency for the next week. The best level is 100%. If efficiency is below 100%, you are wasting money on ineffective advertising. You should reconsider your advertising budget in this case.
